Finding Our Voice

Doubt has killed more dreams than failure ever will.
Our job in this lifetime isn't to shape ourselves into some kind of ideal we imagine ourselves to be, but to discover what we already are, and become it.
We don't show up in this world as some kind of passive generic blob waiting for the world to stamp its own imprint upon us.
No, we show up here with a specific personal destiny, a job to do, a calling to enact, a Self to become.
If we can play something, anything, at an organ, or we have the desire to do so that won't seem to go away, then it's part of our job, while we're here, to become an organist to the best of our ability and get down to business.
In this modern world of so many composers and performers the best way to get noticed, to get our musical creativity before the public, is to be a little different, to do things in a way that's original that sets our work apart and gives it an identity, a personal stamp.
It often helps to shine our music through the prism of our own life's experiences to give it a shape [See blog, Prism].
Our mission then is to find our own voice in the organ world, find out how we're unique among thousands of other voices in the universe of organ playing, then follow that.
